Located in the Cusco region, Red Valley is a breathtaking landscape that looks like something from another world. Sitting at over 5,000 meters above sea level, this valley gets its deep red hue from the high iron oxide content in the soil, creating a unique visual spectacle in the Peruvian Andes.

Unlike the famous Rainbow Mountain, Red Valley receives fewer visitors, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful and immersive nature experience.

To reach Red Valley, visitors must take a one-hour hike from Vinicunca or join a guided tour from Cusco. Although the ascent can be challenging due to the high altitude, the reward is an unforgettable landscape that will leave you in awe.

Day 1

6:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Hotel pickup and transfer to the starting point

• First shift: Between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m.

We begin our trip with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. During the journey, your guide will provide a brief introduction to the history and geography of the Red Valley and Rainbow Mountains, explaining how these unique landscapes were formed.

Breakfast at "La Montaña" Restaurant

• First shift: Arrival at the restaurant at 5:30 a.m.

Upon arrival at La Montaña Restaurant, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast to recharge your batteries before your adventure.

• Buffet breakfast (first shift): Variety of breads, fruits, eggs, coffee, herbal teas, and natural juices.

• American breakfast (second shift): Bread with butter and jam, scrambled eggs, and your choice of coffee or herbal tea.

Here you can also purchase bandanas and gloves, useful for protecting yourself from the wind and dust during the ATV tour.

Transfer from the restaurant to the ATV spot

• Duration: Approximately 1 hour

From the restaurant, we continue by tour bus to the starting point of our ATV adventure. As we approach, the landscape becomes more mountainous, and the temperature begins to drop slightly due to the altitude.

ATV Instruction and Practice

• Duration: Approximately 15 minutes

Upon arrival at the ATV base, the guide will provide a safety briefing and explain how the vehicles operate. Test rides will be conducted on controlled terrain before beginning the ride, ensuring that all participants feel comfortable and safe while riding.

ATV Tour through the Red Valley

• Duration: Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes

• Route: From our starting point to , passing through the Red Valley.

We begin the exciting ATV tour, traversing mountain trails and vast valleys with breathtaking panoramic views. As we continue, we'll see the changing colors of the earth, a result of the presence of minerals such as iron and copper.

Along the way, we'll be able to observe llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas, as well as small Andean communities living in harmony with nature.

Hike to Rainbow Mountain

• Start: Lauramani Base.

• Duration: Approximately 50 minutes.

Upon arrival, we'll leave the ATVs and begin a moderate hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). During the climb, you'll witness surreal landscapes, with geological formations that vary in shades of red, orange, green, and yellow.

This hike, although short, takes place at an altitude of over 5,000 meters, so it's recommended to walk slowly and take breaks to adjust to the altitude.

Time on Rainbow Mountain

• Duration: Approximately 30 minutes.

Upon reaching the summit, our guide will explain the mountain's geological formation and its importance in the Andean worldview. You'll then have free time to take photographs and admire the impressive landscape.

From this point, you can also see other snow-capped mountains and surrounding mountains, creating a panoramic view you'll never forget.

ATV Descent and Return

• Duration: 50 minutes hike + 1 hour ATV ride.

We begin the descent back to Anta Pampa, where we rejoin the ATVs to continue the return trip to our restaurant.

The return ATV ride is equally exciting, allowing us to see the Red Valley from another perspective. Along the way, we can stop briefly to admire the Red River, whose waters take on a reddish hue due to the presence of mineral sediments.

Lunch at "La Montaña"

The buffet lunch includes a variety of traditional Peruvian dishes, with vegetarian options available.

Return to Cusco

Finally, we board our transportation back to Cusco, where the tour concludes at Plaza Regocijo, in the city center.
