The Palcoyo Tour is a unique experience for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts, allowing you to explore one of the most stunning wonders in the Cusco region: the famous Palcoyo Mountains or Rainbow Mountains. Located in the Quispicanchi district, about 3 hours from Cusco, these mountains offer a spectacular range of colors, unique geological formations, and dreamlike landscapes. While less known than the famous Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, Palcoyo provides a more peaceful experience, with fewer crowds and a more accessible route, making it the perfect destination for travelers who want to enjoy natural beauty without the masses.

Altitude Levels and Route:

Starting Point: The tour begins with a transfer from Cusco to Palcoyo, located at 4,800 meters above sea level. The route is accessible, and the trek is moderately challenging.

The path to reach the mountains is well-defined and offers a much more relaxed and shorter trek compared to other rainbow mountains, making it ideal for all levels of trekkers, including those who may be less accustomed to high-altitude hikes.

Itinerary of the Tour:

4:00 AM: Departure from Cusco by bus.
The bus ride to Palcoyo takes approximately 4 hours, passing through scenic rural landscapes.
06:00 AM: Breakfast in the village of Cusipata
8:00 AM: Arrival at the starting point of the trek.
Once you reach the base, the guide will give a brief orientation about the hike and the natural surroundings.
8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Trekking to the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountains.
The hike lasts about 2.5 hours, where you’ll have the opportunity to see the vibrant colors of the mountains, rock formations, and a variety of flora and fauna native to the area.
10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Explore the Rainbow Mountains and enjoy a scenic view.
At the top, you’ll have time to take photos, relax, and marvel at the stunning colors of the landscape.
11:00 PM: Return to the bus.
After exploring, you’ll begin your descent back to the bus for the return trip.
01:30 PM - 2:30 PM: Lunch en route in the village of Cusipata, featuring typical regional cuisine, while enjoying a peaceful, natural setting.
03:00 PM: Return to the bus for the trip back to Cusco.
05:00 PM- 5:30 PM: Arrival in Cusco.
After a relaxing journey back, you’ll arrive in Cusco around 5:00 PM, concluding the tour.
