Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, is one of the most stunning destinations in southern Peru. Located at 5,200 meters above sea level, this mountain is renowned for its vibrant colors, a mix of reds, pinks, yellows, and greens, resulting from the accumulation of minerals in its rock layers. The tour begins early in the morning with a transfer from Cusco to the starting point of the hike, in the picturesque village of Paucarpata. The hike takes approximately 3 hours, depending on the pace, and upon reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world.

Tour Start – 4:00 AM: Departure from Cusco
Start the day with an early departure from your hotel in Cusco. Our private transportation will pick you up directly from your accommodation to ensure your comfort. During the journey, our guide will provide key information about Andean culture, the local ecosystem, and details about the hike you will embark on.
4:00 AM – 7:00 AM: Panoramic Drive to the Starting Point
Get ready for an unforgettable journey through the Peruvian Andes. As we ascend, the landscape transforms into a scene of towering mountains, deep valleys, and small farming communities. Our transportation will stop in a nearby town to enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast, with hot options that will give you the energy you need for the hike. (Service included)
7:00 AM: Arrival at the Starting Point and Preparation
Upon arrival at the start of the hike, we will provide you with a brief introduction to the route, safety precautions, and useful tips to help you enjoy it to the fullest. If necessary, you can also rent horses to make the journey easier. Before starting, take a moment to acclimatize while our guide checks that everyone is ready.
7:30 AM – 9:30 AM: Hike to Rainbow Mountain
The hike begins along trails surrounded by unparalleled landscapes. Throughout the hike, our guide will explain how geology, climate, and minerals have created the natural wonder you are about to witness. The route has a moderate level of difficulty, and it is recommended to advance at your own pace.
9:30 AM: Arrival at Rainbow Mountain
Finally, you will reach Vinicunca, a place that looks like something out of a painting. From the summit, you will have panoramic views of the reddish, yellow, green, and ochre hues that make this mountain famous. Our guide will tell you about the spiritual and cultural significance this place holds for the local communities. Take advantage of this time to take unique photographs and marvel at the surroundings.
10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Free Time on the Mountain
Enjoy plenty of time to explore and absorb the magical energy of Rainbow Mountain. If you are a photography lover or simply want to connect with nature, this is your opportunity.
10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Descent to the Starting Point
The descent offers another opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views. During the return journey, you will observe native animals such as llamas and alpacas, as well as briefly interact with the local communities living at high altitudes.
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.: Lunch at a Local Community
Before returning to Cusco, we will stop for a delicious Andean buffet lunch. The dishes feature local ingredients and traditional recipes that reflect the cultural richness of the region. (Service included)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Return to Cusco
